Stayed up late last night trying to pack - didn't get nearly done. (Should have a photo of Mom with piles of laundry at this point.)
Joyce worked till 1 pm & didn't actually get out of school until 2 pm which means we didn't get home to finish packing until 2:30. After washing dishes and other last minute odd jobs, we finally pulled out of Appleton about 6 p.m.
When we finally were ready to leave - we discovered a "stowaway" in the driver's seat. It was our old pirate friend: ORV! We agreed that he could come along on our adventure.
Here he is saying good-byes with us and Grandma & Grandpa Payne.
Then it was off on the road to Michigan! We zoomed past Kaukauna, Green Bay, Oconto -- where we stopped for a late McDonald's supper -- and up to Marinette. The Goodwill in Marinette beckoned, but we had our eyes on the Michigan border.
We made it to Menominee, Michigan. Here is Orv enjoying the view from our Econolodge on the great Lake called Mitch-Again. Beautiful weather with a breeze off the lake and fish jumping.
Here is Orv getting "all fired up" for some bonfire fun!
And here is Orv off exploring Michigan's rocky coastline...
Tomorrow will be a big drive -- from here to Cadillac, Michigan. About 325 miles -- that should keep us out of trouble.
Signing off -- Dave (& Orv)
P.S. By the time I finished this blog - Joyce is snoring away...until next time...zzz...zzz...zz...z... dreaming of continental breakfasts...
Orv! You little rascal!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip with Mom and Dad.
Sounds like your having fun! Enjoy your anniversary trip, one week for every ten years was a great idea!
ReplyDeleteOh, sure, Orv can come along, but you can't bring me??!! I'm offended on so many levels. Okay, not really. Have fun, parental units. Love you!
ReplyDeleteHi, Kids!
ReplyDeleteOrv is the perfect companion - never have to feed him, he sleeps in the car, and he never asks "are we there yet?"
We think of you all often!
Love, Mom
